posted 2 Feb 2010, 07:05 by Andy Whittall

It may have been the coldest winter for many a long year, but Chawton Cricket Club is getting into the summer spirit with pre-season nets at Amery Hill School, Alton starting on Friday 5thFebruary at 6pm. Net sessions will continue throughout February and March on the following dates: February 12th and 26; and Friday March 5th, 12th and 19th.

For further details, please call Club Chairman Mike Watson on: 07879 468808

If you would like to play Saturday League or Sunday friendly matches against local villages why not come and join us in the nets for an informal knock-about? A pair of trainers is all you need if you don’t have any cricket kit. We have the balls, bats and pads.

Having maintained a healthy position in Hampshire Regional Division 1 North in 2009, we want to stay there for a third year running. To do so, we are calling for new players from Chawton, Farringdon and the surrounding area. The Club is the only organised sporting facility for families in Chawton and Farringdon, and to survive and thrive we need to support of both communities. Plus, we also have the Simon Channon Cricket Academy for 4-8 year-olds, which takes place on Wednesday evenings throughout the spring and summer.

The Chawton ground is rated as one of Hampshire’s prettiest and is highly popular with many clubs throughout the County. We want to keep it that way, so please come along and support Chawton CC either as a player or just a friend of the Club.

With our new website ( ) now up and running, you can find out all about the Club’s fixtures and social activities, as well as follow the Club’s playing performances.
